Competitive Athletes and Augsburg Academy

Are you competing at the regional, national, or international level?
If so, Augsburg Academy may be the perfect school for you! Because of our location, we have access
to world-class training facilities and coaches in ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating, curling,
swimming, diving, gymnastics and tennis. No other school in our area--public or private--can give you
these opportunities right on campus.

How do all those things help me?
Well, are you getting up in the dark, dashing off to training, then dashing off to school, coming in late
most mornings, going to school, then dashing back for more training? Isn't that a real hassle for you
(and your parents)? Wouldn't it be easier to come one place to practice, then walk across the parking
lot (for those of you in swimming, diving, tennis, and gymnastics) or down the hall from your locker (for
those of you in ice sports) and be at school? And, two days a week you can plan on training time
instead of the regular PE class, and you'll even get credit for training. When it comes time to head off
for regionals or nationals, Augsburg's policy allows student athletes excused absences for
competitions, as long as the athelete turns in all required assignments in a timely manner (per the
Student and Parent Handbook).

Does Augsburg field teams in these sports?
Not yet, except we do plan to start our curling team in 2009-2010. However, as we grow as a school,
we expect to field our own teams in these sports at all levels where we have enough student athletes to
participate.

Can my own coach work with me?
Absolutely! Unless, of course, you want someone else to coach you, of course.
